Possibly because we are no longer used to thinking about the consequences of our own actions. It seems as if people perceive the world like a large 4k projection, in which one can always intervene with the remote control. As if you could stop or go back at any time.
Hardly anyone is obviously aware that something is wrong with the Nature, what happened to animals and humans is really so bad that he would have to leave his comfortable chair. In addition, there is no awareness of the connections between the state of the world and the lifestyle of the rich industrialized countries.
At some point everyone will be caught.
But there is this connection. And the number of privileged viewers in the 4k armchair, for whom everything goes on as usual, is decreasing every day. Sustainability, fairness & justice are immediately possible if we participate.
An impressive example of what happened is the mask dispute under Donald Trump. There it showed very clearly that the problems catch up with you and destroy you, even if our lives seem buffered and safe. But money and property don't protect against everything.
So denial and looking away are not the right response. It's actually also clear. But it's also wonderfully comfortable and easy. And it is also made very easy for us. Because our entire society is based on looking the other way. It is accepted that the price of our comfortable life is paid by others. The election posters promise you that you can choose wealth and that Disinform the media sent so that you hardly notice what is really happening. And if you have a guilty conscience, you can pay indulgences at an organization that moves something selectively and strikingly, but does not get to the root of the problem and also finances a lot of comfortable jobs. But real sustainability, fairness and justice are something else.
The system has reached its limits.
But we have come to a point where this system has long since reached its limits. For a long time now, growth has only been achieved by excluding people from the group of those who are allowed to live well. And those who are excluded now live in the house next door. However, accepting and supporting this growth is very short-sighted and leads to a situation in which very few will soon be living well. And in all honesty, I ask myself how one can speak of a good life when everything else is in ruins. Or how to get one Can send a rocket to Mars and she "Hope" and obviously toying with the idea that someone can escape there. An idiotic idea.
We must save life on earth.
Hope must be on earth. Hope must be the basis of everything we do. But don't hope for easy money ... and don't hope that the climate problem was just fake news, that something like Corona is suddenly over and that something like this will never happen again. And please do not hope that we can continue to deal with each other and with the world and animals because artificial intelligence came up with something.
We have to hope that people will finally face their responsibility. We are guests on earth and it does not belong to anyone. And we have to act respectfully in everything we do. And be aware of the consequences. Hope is only in human hands. And all people. ONLY together we can live sustainably and enable a future for the next generations.
The social values are against the individual and those who cannot defend themselves.
But that's very difficult because values such as fairness, justice, modesty and foresight are just mega uncool. And that is devastating, because if one or the other ever doubts whether everything is as good and right as he is doing, he is immediately swept away by the maelstrom of general indifference. And everything stays as it is. That is a shame, because if everyone participates, sustainability, fairness and justice are possible here and now.
In fact, with everything we do, we have an impact on the world around us. While shopping the other day, a woman was standing in front of the shelf with two bottles of olive oil in her hands. And she studied the labels. It was these typical, pretty designs that promise an ideal world ... ..but they weren't olives from ecological, sustainable cultivation. When I put several bottles of organic olive oil into my basket without hesitation, she copied me. I think this example is very universal.
Be a good role model.
So it is terribly important that those who already understand how things are going live very consistently. A politician riding a bicycle or public transport is a clear signal. To change the electricity provider so that one encourages the expansion of renewable energies is a very clear signal. Thinking about a heat pump instead of replacing an obsolete fossil burner with a new fossil burner is also a clear signal. But in all areas of life there is a lack of people with moral courage, decency and a sustainable way of life. For example, if a colleague is bullied, you can help him. At a barbecue party, you can respect those who don't want meat instead of mocking them. And while having coffee with a friend, you can explain again and again in a friendly manner why you don't want to meet at Starbucks and put soy milk in your coffee instead of cow's milk. Or when visiting your school friend, you can ask to turn off Alexa. And it is also very important not only to see a bike in specialist shops, but also to buy it there. And the purchase of all food must not only be supply-driven. Cheap eggs, for example, are produced particularly cruelly. So we can do A LOT for animal welfare here.
